About "THE SOUND"

Not your average 1960's Rock and Roll band

In the mid-sixties, Central New York State was the base for some of the Northeast's finest un-commercialized bar bands. Groups like "The Electric Elves", "Brian's Idles", "Wool", and "The Invictas" dominated the college circuits and bars of Central New York and Northern Pa. Certainly, not the least of these bands was a five-piece band from Watertown, N.Y. "THE SOUND".

For a brief five years (1964-1969) "THE SOUND" performed throughout the Northeast to a substantial and loyal following. Some of the band's faces have changed during this period, but when that loyal following remembers back to those turbulent years and when they reminisce about "THE SOUND" it is of Duke, Tom, Garnet, Jack, and Gary along with the places hey played.  Places like Pine Lodge, Arrowhead Lanes, Gene's Inn, The Driveway, The Stone House, Sunset Harbor, and The Clamshed.

Thousands of miles up and down RT. 81  took the band to homecoming dances at dozens of colleges from Potsdam to Bethlehem Pa. Every once in a while the guys would do a high school gig, but not very often because The "DUKE"didn't like to play "that bubble gum shit".
